In Minas Gerais, mainly in less developed regions, there is a tradition in the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of tissue injuries. The consumer market for medicines made from plants has been growing progressively, leading to an increasing quest by the pharmaceutical industry for natural compounds and the scientific validation of numerous widely used plants. This line of scientific and technological action aims at the development of phytotherapeutic products focused on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of tissue injuries, covering everything from the development of high-quality phytotherapeutic raw materials to the creation and production of phytotherapeutic products, preclinical and clinical testing of these products, and evaluations of their cost-effectiveness.
Management and quality in tissue injuries
This line of scientific and technological action aims to identify problems and opportunities for improvement in public management as well as in the private sector, in areas that involve the health of the general population or specific groups, with regard to the prevention and treatment of tissue injuries. And, from the identification of demands and opportunities, to develop projects aimed at promoting the quality of products and services, and creating management policies and tools that allow for the incorporation of safety and quality into products and services in the area of tissue injuries.
Standardization of procedures and innovations in tissue injuries
Evidence of the effectiveness of usual health practices is progressively required, creating a demand for studies capable of providing robust scientific evidence to address clinically relevant questions. At the same time, technological development has allowed for great advances in the prevention of injuries and tissue regeneration. This line of scientific and technological action aims to emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary action in the process of standardizing products and services and in developing creative and innovative solutions for the prevention, diagnosis, and repair of tissue injuries that are cost-effective and have immediate applicability for the productive sector and society.

Multi and interdisciplinarity characterize the primary vocation of the Professional Master's in Applied Health Sciences at UNIVÁS: to bring together researchers and professionals from different fields, capable of identifying demands and creating solutions related not only to treatment but also to the diagnosis and prevention of tissue injuries. This area of concentration aims at scientific and technological development in the field of tissue injuries and its transfer to the private initiative and the public sector, aiming to increase Brazil's productivity and competitiveness in the area, ultimately promoting the development of society.

Os estudos dessa linha têm como objetivo a reflexão e o desenvolvimento de investigações articuladas entre educação, conhecimento e sociedade visando à formação inicial e continuada nos diferentes níveis e espaços educativos, criando e explorando novas possibilidades de produção de conhecimento que possam contribuir para o desenvolvimento da sociedade em sua diversidade. Investiga, cria e explora o uso das tecnologias e redes digitais na educação, recursos e ferramentas no processo de ensino e de aprendizagem para uma inovação na produção de conhecimento científico, acadêmico, tecnológico e cultural.
